Everton Preview

Everton head into their first meeting with Manchester United at Hill Dickinson Stadium this season unbeaten in the Premier League, having followed their opening victory over Crystal Palace with a 1-1 draw away to Bournemouth. David Moyes' side have also made a strong start across all competitions, including a 3-0 EFL Cup victory over Preston. The arrival of Jack Grealish on loan from Manchester City adds another major attacking option, and the England international could return directly to the starting XI. However, Everton have lost their last two meetings with United, while Christian Norgaard remains a doubt and Iliman Ndiaye's departure to Manchester City leaves a significant attacking void. Thierno Barry is now expected to lead the line.

Manchester United Preview

Manchester United finally found their attacking rhythm last weekend, producing a spectacular 5-2 victory over Ipswich Town after initially falling behind. Bruno Fernandes was the star of the show with a hat-trick, underlining once again how important the Portuguese captain remains to Michael Carrick's side. United have now collected more points than any other Premier League club since Carrick took charge, and another positive result would further strengthen the sense that the team is moving in the right direction. Carlos Baleba will have to wait for his debut because of an ankle injury, while Manuel Ugarte and Amad Diallo are also unavailable. Fernandes has an excellent personal record against Everton, with 11 Premier League goal involvements against them.

Everton's unbeaten start and home advantage should make this a much more competitive contest than United's emphatic victory over Ipswich might suggest. The Toffees have shown resilience under Moyes, while Grealish could provide another creative dimension. United, however, appear to be gaining attacking momentum, and the form of Fernandes, Bryan Mbeumo and their forward line gives the visitors plenty of reasons for optimism.
